Self Corrections Follow
When a student inserts an incorrect, but similar, word or phrase before correctly reading a word, Literably may categorize that insertion as a self-correction. The self-correction symbol (SC) appears next to the insertion.
Literably tries to determine whether there is similarity based on the presence of meaning, structural, and/or visual relationships between the inserted text and the correctly read word that follows it. These are the same relationships used for the miscue analysis that appears next to substitutions. Though Literably makes a best effort to identify all self-corrections, sometimes not every self-correction may be captured in the running record.
