What are self-corrections, and how are they identified?

When a student inserts an incorrect, but similar, word or phrase before correctly reading a word, Literably categorizes that insertion as a self-correction. The self-correction symbol (SC) appears next to the insertion.

Literably determines whether there is similarity based on the presence of meaning, structural, and/or visual relationships between the inserted text and the correctly read word that follows it. These are the same relationships used for the miscue analysis that appears next to substitutions.
