How do I change the assigned next assessment for students?

1. Edit Next Assessment

You can manually change a student's next assessment individually or for multiple students.

To change the next assessment for an individual student, click the pencil icon under the Next Assessment column to the right of the student's name:

To change the next assessment for multiple students, click the checkboxes to the left of the students' names. Then, click the blue Assign Next Assessment button along the top:

2. Select Category of Next Assessment

In the side panel that appears, select from options listed under Category: Oral Reading Fluency, Phonics, Phonological Awareness, Rapid Automatized Naming, or Spelling:

If you have access to Literably in Spanish, you can select English or Spanish under Language.

3. Oral Reading Fluency Options

For Oral Reading Fluency, use the Reading Level drop-down menu to select a different level. The letters align to Fountas & Pinnell Guided Reading Levels. The text in parentheses indicates the corresponding grade level.

Under Reading, you can manually change the text that will be presented to the student.

4. Phonics, Phonological Awareness, Spelling, and RAN Options

For Phonics, Phonological Awareness, Spelling, and RAN, you can select from these options:

• Recommended by Literably: This default option selects the most appropriate skills based on how the student performed on their previous assessment in the same category.
• Pre-made assessments: If your student has never taken this type of assessment in the past, Literably will automatically populate a pre-made screener according to your student's grade level. You can also use this drop-down to select a screener for a different grade level. This might be useful, for example, if you have a second grader to whom you would like to administer a first grade Phonics screener. The questions for these screeners have been selected based on appropriate learning progression for each grade level. 
• Custom assessments: You can create a custom assessment to include the 5-20 subskills that most interest you (more details here). 

5. Preview and Save

Use the Preview button to see the text or a list of skills that will be assessed, and make sure to press Save to register your changes. When you see the correct assessments under the "Next Assessment" column of your dashboard, you should be all set to have your students assess.
