Assigning the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) Assessment in Spanish
If your district or school has Spanish as part of your Literably subscription, you can use the directions below to assign Spanish ORF assessments to your students.
1. Review the current "Next Assessment" assignment
Under the "Next Assessment" column of your teacher dashboard, you will see the assessment that is currently assigned to each student. This is the reading that student will receive the next time they log into Literably to take an assessment.
Eng indicates and English text, and ESP indicates a Spanish text. Under "Assigned By," you will either see the initials of the teacher who manually assigned the assessment, or Rudy the Dog if the assessment has been recommended automatically by Literably. Note: at this time, there can only be ONE next assessment assignment for each student (either English or Spanish).
2. Change the next assessment using pencil icon:
3. Select a Spanish text.
In the pop-up window, toggle the language selection to Spanish. Literably will automatically display the reading level that has been recommended for the student's next assessment, based on the student's grade level (if they have not taken any assessments yet) or their scores on their last assessment, according to this leveling table. To select a different level/text, use the drop-down menus for "Reading Level" and "Reading." Use "See Preview" to preview or print the text, and make sure to click "Save" to save your changes.
When Amelia logs into Literably, she'll be presented with a level-K text called Fiona sigue las reglas de las escuela.
4. If assigning the same text to multiple students, use the bulk assignment feature.
To manually select the same text for multiple students, check the boxes in front of their names, and then the "Assign Next Assessments" button in the top-right corner of your dashboard:
5. When ready to assess in English, update the Next Assessment language.
After your student completes a Spanish ORF assessment, Literably will assign a new Spanish reading for your student to read. When you are ready to assess your students in English, use the "Assign Next Assignment" button to toggle the language to English. Literably will save and automatically populate the recommended next assessment level and text for the student in the other language:
