How to Discontinue a Literably Assessment Follow
For all assessments except Fluency, it is possible to discontinue a student's assessment before the student has completed the assessment. This may be appropriate in the following scenarios:
- The assessment is too difficult for the student, and you need to stop and assign an easier assessment.
- There were too many interruptions (e.g., background noise, microphone issues, etc.) during the beginning of the assessment in order to obtain a valid result, so you need to have the student start over.
How to Discontinue an Assessment for One Student
To discontinue an assessment, click on the pencil icon under the Next Assessment column for the assessment you would like to discontinue. For example, if I need to discontinue Percy Jackson's paused PA assessment, I would navigate to the Phonological Awareness tab and click on the pencil icon for Percy:
In the assignment drawer, you will see Percy's paused assessment, with the option to "Discontinue assessment":
Clicking on "See Preview" will allow you to see how many questions the student has answered. For example, according to the preview below, this particular student has answered 9 questions so far on this assessment. He has answered the questions highlighted in green correctly, and the ones highlighted red incorrectly:
If you choose to discontinue the assessment, you will be asked to confirm in the next window:
Once you discontinue, you can assign a new assessment to the student. Make sure to save your assignment:
How to Discontinue Assessments for Multiple Students
There are times when you may want to discontinue and reassign assessments for multiple students, using the bulk-assignment feature. This can be done by checking the boxes in front of the students' names and clicking "Assign Next Assessments":
When you do this, the assignment drawer will display all students with in-progress assessments:
From here, you can select some or all students, then either discontinue their assessments using the trash can icon:
Or remove them from the group using the remove icon (this will preserve that student's in-progress assessment instead of discontinuing it):
Don't forget to assign a new assessments to those students and save your changes, so that they can select that option when they login to assess.
