Sharing Rostering Data for the New School Year Follow
Overview: Below are the common rostering methods (1-4) used by districts/schools. Please refer to your district/school's rostering method for specific next steps and reminders.
1. Clever
- This "Rostering via Clever" Help Center article includes information about how to implement Clever with Literably
- School and District Admins: On Clever, please designate the appropriate staff as school or district admins. These admins can then log into Literably via Clever.
- More information about what Literably admins can do.
- More information about how to set up admins in Clever (see # 3 in the "Rostering via Clever" Help Center article)
- This short Clever PD guide provides directions for logging into LIterably via Clever SSO.
- Important: Please make sure to only share the sections in which students will be using Literably. In most cases, this will be students' English Language Arts sections (and not PE, art, etc.). This is to ensure that email notifications are sent to the appropriate teachers, and that students are associated with the correct teacher in data exports.
2. Classlink SSO / OneRoster
- This "Rostering via ClassLink" Help Center article includes information about how to implement ClassLink with Literably
- School and District Admins: In your OneRoster files, please designate the appropriate staff as school or district admins. These admins can then log into Literably via ClassLink.
3. OneRoster / Nightly SFTP
Your district creates and maintains its Literably rosters by sharing OneRoster files with us nightly via SFTP. If needed, please be in touch with your district's IT contact who oversees this process and remind them to share the appropriate data with us, in order to get your Literably rosters updated for the new school year. This Help Center article has more information and directions on how this rostering process works.
- Teacher passwords: For teachers who had Literably accounts last year, we will not override their Literably passwords based on what you include in your new OneRoster files. However, please let new teachers know what Literably password you give them in your new OneRoster files.
- Admins: Please designate the appropriate staff as school or district admins in your OneRoster files. More info. on what Literably admins can do found here.
- Want to set up ClassLink Single Sign-On with Literably? Email your Customer Success Manager or support@literably.com - and we can discuss possible next steps.
4. Manual Rostering via CSVs
In your Literably account, please upload or have the appropriate person (e.g., the person who rostered last year) upload your 2 roster CSV files for the new school year. These directions walk you through how to do this.
- IMPORTANT In your students.CSV, please use the same student ID formatting (in column A) that you used last year. In order for historical data to transfer over, students' student IDs should not change from year to year. If you're not sure which student IDs you used last year, please contact support@literably.com.
- Teacher passwords: For teachers who had Literably accounts last year, we will not override their Literably passwords based on what you include in the password column of the teachers.CSV. Please let new teachers know what Literably password you give them on your teachers.CSV.
- Rosterer change: If you need someone new to upload your 2 roster CSV files to Literably this school year (i.e., not the person who did this last year), please email your Customer Success Manager or support@literably.com - and we can get you set up.
- Admins: When rostering, don't forget that you can set up particular staff members as school or district admins. More info. on this here.
- Want to move to automated rostering and/or SSO via Clever, ClassLink, or OneRoster? Email your Customer Success Manager or support@literably.com - and we can discuss possible next steps.
Further Rostering Considerations for the New School Year:
- ELL/Home Language data sharing: Sharing students' ELL and home language info with Literably can improve the accuracy of their assessments. More info. on this topic can be found here. If you aren't sharing this data yet and would like to, please work with your rosterer and reach out to support@literably.com if you have questions.
